Southern McLean Roughrider Cross Country
The Cross Country season is rapidly coming to an end. With only four weeks left, the Roughrider Harriers have come a long way in such a short time. Abi Waloch, ranked 1st in Class B for the majority of the season, has been a steady and consistent performer for the Roughriders. Abi finished in 2nd place at the last meet, behind Asha Smith from Watford City, last year's State Runner-up. Not far behind, Keisha Schock, the lone senior on the team, has been in the top ten for most of the season. Last week, Keisha was ranked 4th, and came in that same place at the Shiloh Christian Invite meet Saturday at McDowell Dam in Bismarck. Tienna Johnson has been steadily improving all year, and has PR'd on three separate occasions this season, including two meets in a row. Tienna broke the 18 minute mark for the first time on Saturday. The other girl on the team, Alyssa Sims, is currently sidelined with a hip injury.
For the men, it has been a pretty good year so far. With only three boys, it's been a struggle, but they have all performed well as the season has progressed. Cole Boysum and Drew Sims have been running in the Varsity meets for most of the year, and are hoping to perform well at Regions and State. Drew, like his sister, is currently sidelined with an injury, however. Ezra Vogel has improved a great deal from the start of the year, and recently placed 6th at the Beulah meet in the Junior High division.
This Saturday, the Roughriders travel to Rugby for their last tune-up meet before the Regional meet in two weeks.
